R & R showcased its new Rayrick fishing line to the world at the ICAST show in Orlando in July 2025. This was the first introduction to the world of our hybrid polymer based, eco-friendly fishing line. (Patent pending.) With our four-person team, we provided thorough explanations and samples to interested potential customers and potential business partners. We also explained how the line can be used to construct fishing nets, as well as lobster/crab pots and baskets.
Our emphasis on the line’s nylon free nature, minimizing our environmental footprint, and the biodegradable nature of our primary component, attracted significant interest. That our construction is designed to give accidentally entrapped animals a fighting chance to break free, as well as to lessen the risk of outboard engine entanglement added to the interest we received. Of course, the effectiveness of our products was a given.
In addition to potential customers and business partners, there was particular interest from the environmental community. This included the Nature Conservancy and the Florida, Virginia and South Carolina Departments of Conservation. We received many comments about the need for what we are doing and that it is long overdue.
With the contacts we made and the feedback we received at the show, we are moving forward, looking for ways to work with conservation groups, exploring business opportunities and beginning our marketing efforts as a wholesale distributor.
